Crash Claims One Life on SR 111

BRIDGEPORT–On March 8, 2011 at approximately 3:15AM, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department received a call regarding a single vehicle crash in the 6800 block of SR 111 just north of Horseshoe Casino. Upon arrival of First Responders, it was found that the driver and sole occupant was deceased. The Floyd County Combined Accident Reconstruction Team (CART) was called to the scene to investigate.

CART was formed in July 2007 by Floyd County Prosecutor Keith A. Henderson to investigate all fatal crashes and those involving serious bodily injury which may result in criminal charges. CART members have additional training in crash reconstruction and scene diagramming.

The preliminary investigation shows that a Range Rover was traveling northbound on SR 111 when it left the right side of the road and struck several mailboxes. The vehicle then came back onto the roadway and crossed into the southbound lanes before overcorrecting, leaving the right side of the road, and striking a large tree stump before overturning in a yard.

This crash remains under investigation and toxicology results are pending. The name of the victim is being witheld pending identification and notification of family.
