Homicide Suspect Charged in New Albany Murder

A suspect has been charged in the homicide of a Louisville man that occurred within the city of New Albany on August 28, 2011.

Nettie M. Luckett, 75, is charged with shooting and killing her son-in-law, Douglas Randolph, 49, at her residence shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Sunday night.

Formal charges were filed by the State on Wednesday in Floyd Circuit Court. In a news conference conducted prior to the initial hearing, Prosecutor Keith Henderson, accompanied by New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey, indicated that the matter remains under investigation.

Luckett appeared for an initial hearing and is currently held in the Floyd County Jail without bond. A jury trial has been set for early January 2012. Luckett faces a sentence of 45-65 years if convicted.
