James P Duffy Convicted of Murder
New Albany, IN – Floyd County Prosecuting Attorney Keith A. Henderson announced that on January 30, 2019, James P Duffy (State v James P Duffy – 22C01-1611-MR-2284) was found guilty by twelve jurors of Murder, Robbery (Level 3 Felony) and Auto Theft (Level 6 Felony).
Mr. Henderson said, “I’m very pleased that this defendant was brought to justice for this brutal murder. It was a long trial and I appreciate the dedication of the jurors. I look forward to the sentencing where I will be asking for a 65-year sentence.”
Murder carries a potential sentence of 45 to 65 years in prison, with an advisory sentence of 55 years. Mr. Duffy was also found guilty of Robbery which carries a sentence of 3 to 16 years in prison, with an advisory of 9 years and Auto Theft which carries a sentence of 6 months to 2.5 years, with an advisory of 1 year.
Duffy will be sentenced on March 4, 2019 at 9:00am in Floyd Circuit Court (4th Floor) of the City-County Building, New Albany, Indiana. Mr. Henderson, Chief Deputy Chris Lane, and Deputy Prosecutor Jerome Jacobi represented the State of Indiana.
