Ed Adams, Investigator:

 

Ed began his career as an Indiana State Police Officer assigned to the Versailles Post, and completed his career at the Sellersburg Post. During his 26-year career, he worked as a Trooper for 10 years, a Detective for 5 years, a Detective Supervisor for 4 years and a District First Sergeant Assistant Commander for 7 years. He also served as a Hostage Negotiator for 12 years.

Ed Graduated from the Northwestern University School of Staff and Command in 1990.

He worked as an Investigator for Keith Henderson in Crawford County for 4 years, and as the Chief Investigator for Keith Henderson in Floyd County for 12 ½ years.

Joe Towns

Joe Towns has been an Investigator for the Floyd County Prosecutor’s Office since his retirement as an Indiana State Police Detective during the summer of 2006. Towns began his law enforcement career in 1982 as a reserve officer for the Clark County Sheriff’s Department. Upon graduation from the Indiana State Police Academy in December 1983, he was assigned to the Evansville State Police District as a Trooper. He later transferred to the Sellersburg State Police District and was assigned to both Floyd and Harrison County.  Towns was also assigned as a Trooper in Clark County, until his promotion to Corporal Post Command in 1991, a duty he performed at the Sellersburg Post until December 1998 when he was transferred to the Gaming Division at Caesars Indiana Casino as a State Police Detective. Investigator Towns worked as a Detective in that capacity until joining the Prosecutor’s Office in 2006.

Tara Cottingham, Investigator/Media Relations:

Tara Cottingham joined the Floyd County Prosecutor’s Office in July 2015. As an investigator, she performs various tasks within the office to assist Deputy Prosecutors and facilitate communication between the myriad parties involved in the criminal justice system. Tara is responsible for Floyd County’s Habitual Offender Program and maintaining the Floyd County Prosecutor’s Office website. In addition, Tara acts as a liaison between the Prosecutor’s Office and the local media. Her duties include obtaining Governor’s warrants, complying with the Interstate Agreement on Detainers Act, and in aiding Deputy Prosecutors with upcoming trials. Tara is a graduate of Indiana University Southeast.

  • Prosecutor’s Victim Assistance Coordinator

    A victim of crime in connection with criminal charges filed by this office may be eligible to receive assistance from our Victim's Assistance Coordinator.

    The Victim’s Assistance Coordinator provides information for victims through interactions with law enforcement, prosecutors and during court proceedings; by providing support and guidance to victims and their families; by informing victims of their rights; and by advising victims and/or their families of case developments and any upcoming trial court or hearing dates.
